May 1, 2024“Research – Innovate”: Application Submission
October 1, 2024Development Begins for the Mobile Guide of the Permanent Exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa
The project aims to enhance the permanent exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa through the creation of a mobile application. This initiative will improve the museum's services by providing visitors with additional insights into the exhibits. Additionally, it will promote accessibility by offering audio narrations for visually impaired users.
The app will offer the following features:
- Enrich visitors' experiences and provide a deeper understanding of the museum’s extensive collections,
- Organize the tour into thematic routes with points of interest for easy navigation,
- Deliver diverse multimedia content, including images, videos, and 3D reconstructions, along with detailed exhibit information,
- Allow users to explore the museum and its stories both in person and remotely,
- Offer free downloads for Android and iOS devices, enabling easy access to the app.
Accessibility is a key focus, with audio narrations available in both Greek and English, ensuring inclusivity for visually impaired users. The app is designed according to the "Design for All" principle, following the internationally recognized W3C accessibility guidelines.
The project is part of the larger initiative "Documentation, Operational Upgrades, and Service Improvements for the Public at the Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa," implemented by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Thesprotia.
