Digital Art Through Virtual Reality
Diadrasis, in collaboration with Ionian University, presented Oxymoron VR at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), giving visitors the opportunity to experience an immersive work that brings together digital art, Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence.
From 5 to 13 September, OxymoronVR was presented at the Ionian University’s booth, attracting visitors of all ages. Wearing a VR headset, visitors could enter the virtual environment of the work and explore two different yet interconnected worlds: “Plastotopos” and “Skiotopos.”
From video installation to an immersive world
Oxymoron VR is an evolution of the original two-channel video installation oxymoron by artists Konstantinos Tiligadis and Dimitris Agathopoulos. With the contribution of Diadrasis, the original artistic concept was transformed into a fully immersive and interactive environment, making use of VR & AI.
The experience is built around the concept of the oxymoron, bringing together two seemingly opposing realities. Rather than remaining a passive observer, the visitor moves through the two worlds and interacts with the environment, experiencing the artwork in a more active and participatory way.
An experience that captured the audience’s interest
Throughout TIF, Oxymoron VR attracted visitors of different ages, who had the opportunity to try the experience and explore the virtual environment firsthand.
The booth also welcomed representatives from the political and academic communities, who experienced Oxymoron VR and showed particular interest in the way art, technology and interactive experiences come together.
The audience’s response highlighted the potential of Virtual Reality as a new medium for artistic expression and communication, while demonstrating how immersive technologies can create new ways for audiences to engage with art.

Presenting the project at TIF
The Oxymoron VR presentation took place on Sunday, 13 September, as part of the event “Contemporary Artistic Practices in Digital Art - Virtual Environments and Artificial Intelligence.”
The project’s creators, Konstantinos Tiligadis and Dimitris Agathopoulos, together with Theodora Angelopoulou, Project Manager at Diadrasis, presented the development of Oxymoron VR, from the original video installation to its transformation into an interactive Virtual Reality environment.
The presentation focused on both the creative and technical process behind the project, from the design of the 3D environment and interaction mechanisms to the integration of Artificial Intelligence technologies.
