A VR experience in the Mediterranean Sea
Τhe development of the Virtual Reality educational game “The Shipwreck of the Three Seas: Secrets, Treasures and Knowledge” has been successfully completed.
Τhe project is part of the project “From the Aegean to the Ionian: A Sea of Knowledge” implemented in collaboration with the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation and PostScriptum.
The application transports users to the depths of the Mediterranean Sea, where they assume the role of a diver exploring a World War II submarine wreck. Through an interactive exploration experience, participants discover 3D representations of objects from the Foundation’s Maritime Collection hidden on the seabed, gather information, and gradually piece together the story of the shipwreck.
The game combines Virtual Reality technologies and 3D modelling to deliver an immersive educational experience that blends learning with entertainment. By interacting with the environment and the exhibits, users have the opportunity to explore aspects of maritime history and cultural heritage in a contemporary and engaging way.
The development of “The Shipwreck of the Three Seas: Secrets, Treasures and Knowledge” marks another step towards the effective use and promotion of the Foundation’s digitized collections, enhancing public access to educational and cultural content through innovative digital technologies.
