Metapolitefsi 1974-1989

Digital Platform for the History of the Metapolitefsi Period

Implementation period: 2016-2017 (Phase I), 2024 (Phase II)
Institution: Contemporary Social History Archives (ASKI)
Technology Web application

The project “Creation of a Website for the History of the Metapolitefsi 1974-1989” was implemented on behalf of the Contemporary Social History Archives (ASKI) with a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Its aim was to create a modern digital space for documenting, preserving, and presenting the history of the Greek Metapolitefsi period. Through the utilisation of primary archival material, historical documents, and scholarly research, the platform highlights the political, social, and cultural developments of the period 1974–1989, providing the general public and the research community with free access to reliable and well-documented content.

Within this framework, diadrasis developed the project website, designing a modern and functional digital environment that organises, presents, and highlights ASKI’s rich collections and content. The platform supports the presentation of historical sections, timelines, archival documents, photographic material, and thematic features, offering visitors a comprehensive browsing experience through the history of the Metapolitefsi period.

During Phase II of the project, which was funded by the General Secretariat for Contemporary Culture of the Ministry of Culture within the framework of the Creative Greece 2024 / Digital Culture Action, the platform underwent a digital upgrade and content enrichment process. The aim was to improve the user experience, enhance accessibility, and showcase new archival and research material. The renewed platform continues to serve as a dynamic digital reference point for the study and understanding of the Metapolitefsi period.
