Ancient Greek Theatre for Children
Educational Applications
The project comprises two educational digital applications that use audiovisual storytelling and interactive content to introduce children to significant works of Ancient Greek theatre. Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound and Aristophanes’ The Birds are brought into a contemporary digital environment through interactive animations, sound effects, and elements of digital storytelling.
The applications aim to introduce children to the great poets and writers of Ancient Greece and help them explore mythology, ancient history, and literature in a more direct, accessible, and engaging way, adapted to contemporary forms of digital communication. At the same time, the applications highlight the ideas, values, and ethical questions explored through these works, creating opportunities for discovery and discussion.
diadrasis contributed to the development and implementation of the digital applications, helping shape the interactive and audiovisual experience. Through the collaboration of professionals from different creative and technological fields, the project harnesses the potential of digital media to build a contemporary bridge between Ancient Greek literature and younger audiences.
Deliverables

Educational Application “Prometheus”
The application is based on Aeschylus’ tragedy Prometheus Bound and brings the story of Prometheus into an interactive digital environment.
Through animated scenes, audiovisual elements, and sound effects, students are introduced to the story and characters of the play while exploring fundamental themes such as freedom, power, defiance, and human knowledge.
Educational Application “The Birds”
The second application is based on Aristophanes’ comedy The Birds and uses interactive animations, sound, and digital storytelling to present the world of Ancient Greek comedy in a lively and accessible way.
Through the story and characters of the play, children discover Aristophanes’ humour and satirical approach, while also engaging with timeless themes such as society, power, politics, human ambition, and the pursuit of an alternative reality.
The application is available on Google Play and the App Store.
